The annual event is organised by ForCrohns – a charity set up to raise money for research into Crohn’s disease and to help spread awareness of the condition to a wider audience. The 10k event is called 10k ForCrohns and it’s raised more than £125,000 since it began in 2002.

So what do you reckon? Think you’ve got what it takes to go the distance?

There are still places available for the event. All abilities are welcome and entrants will receive a picnic lunch, tea and a souvenir t-shirt. There’ll be plenty of live music and entertainment for spectators too. Celebrity supporters include Les Ferdinand, Louise Redknapp, Duncan James and Carrie Grant. Head along and you might just bump into one of them! Visit the ForCrohns website for more information.

Not sure what Crohn’s disease is? Crohn’s causes inflammation in the lining of the digestive system. Over time, the inflammation can cause damage, resulting in complications such as the narrowing of certain parts of the digestive organs.

With just under 100,000 people in the UK currently living with Crohn’s, the condition remains relatively rare. But the fact that it can strike anyone at any time, coupled with the unfortunate reality that there is currently no cure, means that research is needed to help improve the treatment of Crohn’s disease.

It’s a condition that can be difficult to live with. But the good news is that the symptoms are manageable. It doesn’t have to stop you travelling either. And while many insurers refuse to cover travellers with Crohn’s disease, our Crohn’s travel insurance will give you all the cover you need at a price that’s fair.
